Bono's back injury could cost U2 £100 million

Thursday June 17, 2010

The boys of U2 are going through a patch of bad luck at the moment.

Last month frontman Bono underwent emergency back surgery while they were in the middle of preparations for a world tour, forcing them to postpone their 16 concerts in North America, as well an appearance at Glastonbury.

And now their manager, Paul McGuinness, has revealed that the changes will prove costly.

"If we play or not, touring still costs us £500,000 a day," he says.

Despite insurance coverage, the amount could total as much as £100 million, a source adds.

The band plans to announce the rescheduled dates later this week.
