Kate and Charlene swap notes at Queen's lunch

Friday May 18, 2012

The Duchess of Cambridge and Princess Charlene of Monaco were deep in conversation at the Queen’s exclusive lunch on Thursday.

And considering their wealth of similarities – they both got married last year, share a common love of sports and are involved in children’s charities – they must have had a lot to talk about.

Kate was radiant in a pastel pink Alice coat by Emilia Wickstead with bold pleats that fell from the waist.

And Charlene had also opted for a pastel hue with her mint green coat.

The two ladies left their other halves – Prince William and Prince Albert – to catch up as they enjoyed a chat.

The royals were treated to a tartlet of poached egg with English asparagus to start.

This was followed by a main course of new season Windsor Lamb with braised potatoes, artichokes, peas, carrots, broad bens, cabbage and a tomato and basil salad.

The lavish meal was topped off with Kent strawberries and vanilla Charlottes, with fruit and cheese also on offer.
