Gerard Depardieu 'very sorry' for urinating on plane

Thursday August 18, 2011

Gerard Depardieu has issued an official apology after urinating on a plane in Paris.

The French actor has insisted that he is "very sorry" for the incident in which he felt he had no other option but to urinate in a bottle while the seat-belt sign was turned on.

He described himself as being in a state of "irrepressible need" when French actor and friend, Edouard Baer, passed him an empty bottle.

His companions claim that Gerard went through with it “without any provocation and after making sure he wasn’t seen."

When some urine spilt on the carpet, however, his fellow passengers were quickly enraged and the 62-year-old was forced to leave the plane before take-off.

The CityJet aircraft then had to be emptied and cleaned before it left two hours later.

The friends who accompanied him have said: “No proceedings or fine were signalled to him and he had the feeling the misunderstanding and the inflexible attitude of the hostess were understood by his interlocutors."

They also say that the actor-director is "very sorry for the inconvenience caused."
