Colin Firth and Carey Mulligan win at Critics' awards

Friday February 19, 2010

British Oscar nominees Colin Firth and Carey Mulligan have each accepted awards at the London Film Critics' Circle Awards.

While dashing Colin was honoured for his role in A Single Man, rising star Carey received the best actress of the year gong for An Education.

Speaking ahead of his win, Colin revealed his pleasure with the repsonse he's been getting for his award-winning role.

"If someone asked me to choose between the gongs and the words that I've been getting for the film, it would be a tough choice, because whether or not we admit to it we rather like these awards," he says.

"But I've never had stuff like this. It's of such a personal nature and it feels so heartfelt, and it's come from quarters which I would never have expected."

Meanwhile 24-year-old Carey - who flew in from LA where she attended the Oscars luncheon earlier in the week - says she is "hugely flattered", to receive the award.
