Camerons make emotional return to Ivan's school

Friday November 19, 2010

It was clearly an emotional day for David and Samantha Cameron.

The Prime Minister and his wife wiped away tears during a visit to the school attended by their son Ivan, who tragically died last year.

They were at the Jack Tizard School – which cares for serverely disabled children - to witness the opening of a new hydrotherapy pool.

Samantha welled up as her husband told staff and parents how much Ivan liked to swim.

"I remember how much he loved swimming and he will be looking down at that pool thinking I wish I was in there today," said David.

Ivan, who had cerebral palsy and severe epilepsy, died last year aged six. He attended the central London school for two years.

"You have a child, a special child like we did with Ivan, you worry like mad you are never going to find somewhere where he is happy, where there is great teaching where there is love and great compassion," said the British leader.

"And when you find that place like we did with Jack Tizard, your heart lifts."
