Martin Clunes' speedy driving leads to car ad ban

Monday November 19, 2012

Actor Martin Clunes has been dropped from a car insurance advert campaign after being disqualified from driving. Martin, who is known for his role as the angry phyisician Dr Martin Ellingham in Doc Martin, has been removed from Churchill's car insurance adverts after almost a year of runs.

The 50-year-old has now been declared by the company as no longer fit to represent safe driving. A spokesman for Churchill said: "We have worked with Martin Clunes in a brand advertising campaign since December 2011.

"Martin Clunes recently informed Churchill Insurance that his driving licence has been suspended after he accumulated penalty points for four speeding offences.

"Churchill Insurance currently has no adverts with Martin Clunes on air and will be moving forward with new advertising in the New Year."
