Brittany Murphy's mum insists death was natural

Wednesday January 20, 2010

One month after her death, Brittany Murphy's husband, Simon Monjack, and mother Sharon have posed with the actress's favourite portrait of her herself, by famed US photographer Bruce Weber.

Both remain convinced that the star died of natural causes, rather than as the result of drug abuse or an eating disorder, as has been speculated.

"She would not take too much caffeine," Sharon told Associated Press.

"She wouldn't even have a glass of champagne on New Year's. She was just high on life, and people see that as something else, I guess."

Simon said his wife suffered from a condition called mitral valve prolapse, which meant a heart valve did not close properly, but doctors assured her that she "would live a long and healthy life."

He also revealed that the night before she died they had talked about having a baby and even chosen names.

Both said they were still waiting for the results of toxicology tests, which would put the matter to rest once and for all.
