Spice Girls 'proud' to be back in UK Top 20

Monday August 20, 2012

Following their performance at the Olympic closing ceremony British pop legends the Spice Girls are back in the UK Album charts.

Mel C, aka Sporty Spice, tweeted her excitement: "So proud to be back in the UK Top 20 Album Charts with my girls. Thank you for your continuing support! #spicegirls x"

Shortly after, Emma Bunton thanked the "amazing" and "dedicated" fans that had helped put their Greatest Hits album, released in 2007, at number 18 in the UK Top 20 Album Chart.

The quintet were not the only ones to benefit from their performance.

Emeli Sandé's album Our Version of Events shot to number one, having previously lingered around the number four slot.

Elbow's album The Seldom Seen Kid also moved from 139th to sixth position in the chart and the band, who hail from Manchester, also achieved the greatest jump in the singles chart with their song One Day Like This.
