Daughter of Walt Disney dies aged 79

Diane Disney Miller, daughter of Walt Disney, has died at the age of 79 following a fall in September.

The philanthropist passed away on Tuesday in her house in Napa, north of San Francisco. 

In her honour the flags at the Disney theme parks and the Disney studio lot in Burbank will fly at half-mast.

Robert Iger, president of the Walt Disney Company said: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Diane Disney Miller and our thoughts are with her family during this difficult time."

"As the beloved daughter of Walt Disney and one of his inspirations for creating Disneyland, she holds a special place in the history of The Walt Disney Company and in the hearts of fans everywhere."

Daughter to Walt and Lillian Disney, Diane was born and raised in Los Angeles. She married Ron Miller in 1954 and was chief executive of the Walt Disney Company from 1980-1984.
