Prince Albert tells of 'outrage' over marriage rumours

Monaco's Prince Albert has spoken of his anger at the rumours that have surrounded his marriage – and condemned those reporting them.

With his wife Princess Charlene by his side, the Monegasque royal addressed representatives from three news agencies just hours after returning from honeymoon.

"We want to express our outrage about these rumors. It's unbearable," said Albert – as reported in Nice-Matin, one of the publications at the meeting.

"What is regrettable is that the media seized on these rumors without verifying their information," continued the 53-year-old.

"I find it unworthy of your colleagues. I have always respected the freedom of expression.

"But the dissemination of false information is lamentable and subject to criminal penalties."
