Trinny Woodall: 'My addictions left me emotionally bankrupt'

Monday September 21, 2009

Makeover queen Trinny Woodall has spoken out for the first time about her long-term struggle with addiction.

As she prepares to open a newly relocated women's-only rehabilitation centre this week, the fashionista has candidly addressed her ten year battle with alcohol and illegal substances.

In a recent interview with The Independent, 45-year-old Trinny, who celebrated nine years of sobriety last week, admitted: "My last year of using and getting sober, that first year, was the toughest time of my life."

She first entered rehab aged 21, and then again when she was 26 after making a pact with friends.

"It wasn’t my worst drinking and using but emotionally I was bankrupt," she said of her final decision to take treatment.

"There were times when rehab and the halfway house were very, very, tough, but I never felt like I wanted to leave," she said.

"I kind of felt this was my last chance."
