Rihanna and Justin Bieber join forces for Japan aid

Tuesday March 22, 2011

With such a huge recovery operation to undergo, Japan's earthquake and tsunami survivors are in desparate need of rebuilding their shattered lives.

And the rich and famous are keen to lend their help, with Rihanna and Justin Bieber amongst others teaming up to create an album in order to raise funds for the Japanese Red Cross.

The album - which is also set to feature songs from U2 and Bon Jovi - is being rushed out by Universal Music and will only be available in digital version.

"We are doing it only digitally because it is faster, and this will be a worldwide release. The plan is to have it available later this week," a spokesperson for the record label said.

The exact line-up has not yet been confirmed, the company apparently looking for other big names in the music industry who are willing to waive their royalties.

The March 11 earthquake and tsunami has so far left at least 21,000 people dead or missing.
