Elle Macpherson bans scantily clad model contestants

Wednesday June 22, 2011

Elle Macpherson ordered hopefuls to cover up on the catwalk during filming of her Next Top Model series.

The supermodel and underwear tycoon, who earned the nickname 'The Body' for her stunning figure, felt uncomfortable about the girls flashing too much flesh.

Elle, host and executive producer on the reality show, acted after early auditions had involved the contestants appearing in next to nothing.

She said: "We started off putting girls in bathing suits but when I saw the first lot come in I was like, 'I can't do this to them, it's not fair'.

"I'm really interested in the whole, the personality of the girl, and... it just felt inappropriate.

"It's very uncomfortable for a girl to stand in front of people like this, naked, freezing cold, so we just said, 'No, it's not fair'."

X Factor stylist Grace Woodward, designer Julien Macdonald and male model Charley Speed are also on the panel.
