Hugh Laurie launches career as blues musician

His role as Dr Gregory House on the hit show House has made him a household name in America and earned him over $400,000 per episode.

But Hugh Laurie is putting aside his successful acting career to follow his other dream path - as a blues musician.

The 51-year-old made his debut on Wednesday night at an intimate venue in New Orleans, promoting his upcoming album Let Them Talk.

Anticipating some negative feedback about his career change the classically-trained musician said: "I am a white, middle-class Englishman, openly trespassing on the music and myth of the American south."

He added: "If that weren't bad enough, I'm also an actor: one of those pampered ninnies who can't find his way around the airport without a babysitter." Read full story
