Cher put on a hair raising appearance with son Chaz Bono at the GLAAD Awards where he was honoured with two prizes.

Forty-three-year-old transgender activist and author Chaz was honoured with the outstanding documentary prize and the Stephen F Kolzak Award.

Directors Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato also picked up the award for Becoming Chaz, the documentary that chronicled Cher's son's gender transition.

The activist is the child of music duo Cher and Sonny Bono, and was the first-ever transgender contestant on ABC's Dancing With The Stars last year.

Chaz's mother - sporting an afro - presented the awards alongside his step mother from his late father's second marriage.

Later, in reference to her eye-catching 'do, the Believe singer tweeted: "FRO was FUN & Homage 2 the beautiful blk Women who've worn it!

"If a girl can have B's2TW FUN at The Glaad awards whats this world coming 2?"
