Darius explains why he is 'the luckiest man alive'

Monday August 23, 2010

In an exclusive interview with HELLO! Popstar to Operastar winner Darius Campbell has opened up about his horrific car crash and explained that he was just millimetres from death.

"Three millimeters this way, you no walk; three millimeters that way, you're dead.', the nurse told him while he lay immobile in a Spanish hospital bed.

It’s no wonder the singer proclaimed “I feel like the luckiest man alive.”

On a “lads driving holiday” in southern Spain, Darius and a friend hit an oil slick while in their Porsche which sent them colliding into a wall at 70 miles per hour.

The accident left Darius with a “trauma compression injury,” similar to the one sustained by actor Christopher Reeves.

Now up and about and well on the road to recovery, the 30-year-old is back in Los Angeles, where he lives with girlfriend Natasha Henstridge, and is undergoing intensive physiotherapy.
