Lindsay Lohan is facing trial after she rejected a judge's offer of a plea deal in her ongoing jewellery theft case.
The star is accused of stealing a necklace from a jewellery store in California in January.
The exact conditions of the plea deal were never disclosed. But Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz told Lindsay at a hearing in February that it would include jail time.
Twenty-four-year-old Lindsay's attorney has notified the prosecution that she will not be taking the offer, and has opted to move towards a trial.
"Ms Lohan has maintained her innocence from the moment this case was filed and she has never wavered," said her lawyer.
"Though many advised her to follow the safe route by taking 'the deal', the truth is, Ms Lohan is innocent; she has a strong defense; and we are confident that a jury will listen to the evidence fairly and acquit her."
The actress is now due in court on April 22 for a preliminary hearing, during which a judge will decide if there is enough evidence for a trial.
