Nicolas Cage accepts invite to turn on Bath Xmas lights

Friday July 24, 2009

There will be extra festive cheer in Bath this Christmas time with the news Nicolas Cage has agreed to flick the switch on the city's lights.

Hollywood star Nicolas, 45, agreed to switch on the illuminations on November 26 after a local resident pushed a note through the front door of the £4million Georgian town house he bought in 2007.

"He was our dream choice to turn on the lights," says a delighted Emma Samways. "This is pretty special and he's a pretty cool guy."

"I'm absolutely gobsmacked that someone like Nicolas Cage has agreed to turn on the lights and we'll make sure he's made very welcome," one happy resident added.

Nicolas also owns an 18th century castle in the nearby village of Midford, and properties in LA, Germany, and a whole island in the Bahamas.

"He would like to spend more time here but his film commitments don’t always allow that," said Rod Findlay, Nicolas' UK estate manager." He takes every opportunity to visit and stay in Bath."
