Kerry Katona apologises over alleged drug taking

Monday August 24, 2009

On return from an impromptu family holiday in Tenerife, troubled Kerry Katona has publicly apologised for her alleged drug use last week.

The 28-year-old, who suffers from bipolar disorder, was photographed reportedly taking drugs at her home in Cheshire.

"I'm so sorry and so ashamed of my actions. I know I let everyone down," says Kerry, pictured returning to Manchester airport with husband Mark and children.

"It was a moment of weakness and stupidity and I regret it terribly."

"The biggest fear I could ever have is losing my children. But I'm not aware that Brian wants custody of the girls," she added, referring to the news that former husband Brian McFadden is  reportedly seeking custody of their two daughters.

And in response to supermarket chain Iceland relieving her of her duties, the former Atomic Kitten accepts the decision gracefully.

"I wasn't shocked by the decision. I understood that I'd given them no choice… they have stood by me through thick and thin and this is how I repaid them. I'm sorry I let them down."

"I'm not a drug addict. I don't wake up and think I need drugs. But I know that I have to get some help to make sure I never take drugs again," says the mum-of-four, who is reportedly considering treatment in a rehab clinic.
