U2 drop in to premiere of Finding Neverland

Monday September 24, 2012

Oscar and Tony award winner Harvey Weinstein has left the big screen to one side for the moment to direct an adaptation of Finding Neverland.

The co-founder of Miramax has turned his highly successful film into a stage production which is currently being shown in Leicester.

The movie, starring Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, explores how Peter Pan writer JM Barrie's relationship with a widower inspired the iconic children's novel.

The show has been choreographed by Rob Ashford, who has also collected a Tony and numerous Olivier nominations for his work.

U2's Bono and The Edge were just a few of the guests at the show's premiere on Saturday, and Bono seemed overwhelmed by the performance.

He said: "Can I just say how nauseating it is to see it go so well. That was amazing."

The play will be shown at the Curve Theatre in Leicester until October 13.
