Prince William and Kate Middleton will receive an early wedding gift when they return to the university town where they fell in love for an official engagement.
St Andrews University has established a new scholarship in honour of the royal couple and their April 29 nuptials.
The £70,000 scholarship covers tuition costs, accommodation and living expenses for a four-year undergraduate degree in arts, science, medicine or divinity.
It will be open to applicants of all nationalities and awarded annually to a student who financially would otherwise be unable to attend.
The royal couple - who made a public appearance together in Anglesey on Thursday – both graduated from the university in 2005.
William received his degree in Geography, while his bride-to-be graduated with a degree in History of Art.
