Tim Burton has revealed he used to run home from school to catch the TV version of what has become his latest film, Dark Shadows.
The acclaimed director joined longtime collaborator Johnny Depp to present footage from their big-screen remake of the 1960s show, at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
Tim, whose partner is the Oscar-nominated British actress Helena Bonham Carter, said: "I wasn't doing my homework. I was watching this weird TV show."
The Edward Scissorhands filmmaker said he, Johnny and co-star Michelle Pfeiffer were the only people on set who had watched the TV show when it aired from 1966 to 1971.
As Tim introduced the movie Johnny appeared on stage wearing all black, a vest and an assortment of necklaces and bracelets.
The actor plays Barnabas Collins, a wronged vampire who awakens 200 years in the future to discover disco, television and microwaves.
