Farrah Fawcett's son Redmond swaps jail for rehab

Friday September 25, 2009

The son of Ryan O'Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett has been transferred from a Los Angeles jail to a drug rehabilitation centre in Pasadena where he is to be treated for one year.

A rep from the treatment centre was unable to give details of Redmond's specific program but made clear that at the establishment, "patients are not usually free to come and go as they please"

The 24-year-old's lawyer has highlighted that this had been a challenging time for the youngster, even more so with the passing of his mother in June.

At his mother's funeral, a moving letter was read out intended to give Farrah's wayward boy - who has already been through a stint in rehab - inspiration to overcome his substance abuse issues.

In it his mum said, "By leaving you behind I hope you will be able to work out all your troubles and grow as a person."

Redmond is expected back in court on September 30 for a hearing of his arrest and probation violation.
