Vivienne Westwood dines with Julian Assange

Thursday October 25, 2012

Dame Vivienne Westwood has dined with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Known to be a supporter of the controversial campaigner, the fashion designer entered the Ecuadorian Embassy wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with "I am Julian Assange" and a picture of the designer which strikes a resemblance to Julian.

The designer first wore the T-shirt down the catwalk for London Fashion Week.

Australian Julian has been granted political asylum by the Ecuadorian government, and is seeking to avoid extradition to Sweden to face sexual offence charges.

The WikiLeaks founder also wants to avoid being extradited to America over his whistle-blowing website, which has posted a series of top secret government documents.

The founder of the polemic exposure site has been seeking asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy since the summer, and has dined with a series of guests, including Lady Gaga and singer and rapper M.I.A.
