Alex Reid's mum speaks as Katie stays Down Under

Wednesday November 25, 2009

The mother of Alex Reid has criticised Katie Price for splitting up with her cage-fighting son live on television.

Carol, 69, said she watched the model tell I'm A Celebrity…hosts Ant and Dec that she had left Alex, just hours after quitting the reality show.

"It seemed very cruel the way she spoke about Alex," she said.

"He really loved her and gave up a lot for her, and this is how he gets treated."

She added she is worried about the 34-year-old – who planned to propose to Katie – saying: "All I know is he is in Australia and his phone is off. He must be upset."

Meanwhile it has emerged the model will be staying Down Under for some time.

The mum-of-three is contracted by ITV to stay there until December 5, and was seen being followed by cameras around the Gold Coast this week.

It means it will be almost two weeks until she sees her three children; Harvey, Princess and Junior.

As well as catching up with her family, Katie will have business ventures to attend to upon her return.

The Mirror reports that her empire is in danger, with sales down on many of her products.

According to the paper, one of her children's books has sold just 19 copies, while her latest fragrance is being outsold by scents from Kate Moss, Kylie and Britney Spears.
