Cheryl Cole 'axed' from US 'X Factor'

Thursday May 26, 2011

Her place on the judging panel was only confirmed a few weeks ago, following months of heated speculation over whether her British charm would translate in America.

But in a shock twist, songstress Cheryl Cole has reportedly been sacked from US X Factor.

The 27-year-old's place on the show – which debuts in September – is apparently to be taken by ex-Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger.

Various reports have suggested that the brunette beauty was primarily dropped as a result of contestants struggling to understand her accent.

And others say it was down to the lack of chemistry between her and fellow judge Paula Abdul, despite several photographs posted on Twitter of the pair looking very friendly.

But some claim that Cheryl has been too homesick to continue, missing her friends and family back in Britain.

Simon Cowell has yet to comment on the reports, but it is believed that the decision was down to executives at Fox, and not the music mogul himself.

There is speculation that Cheryl will return to the British version of the hit television show.
