A man accused of assaulting Leona Lewis is not fit to attend court, a judge was told on Monday.
Peter Kowalczyk was charged with hitting the pop star during a book signing at Waterstone's in central London.
The 29-year-old has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act and is currently being assessed by psychiatrists in Lambeth Hospital in South London.
The suspect's solicitor Mark Fidler said the results of psychiatric tests would dictate what approach is taken to the case.
After a brief hearing, the matter was adjourned until November 23.
Fans will get a chance to see Leona again when she performs a gig in her native Hackney in east London on November 2.
