Kate's aide Rebecca Deacon promoted to Private Secretary

The Duchess of Cambridge  is to have her own dedicated Private Secretary.

Rebecca Deacon who offered invaluable assistance to Kate since her wedding in April 2011 has been promoted from Assistant Private Secretary St James's Palace confirmed.

The senior appointment was described as an "evolutionary step" in the development of the household. 

Rebecca, 29, is due to move to Kensington Palace in the autumn to be nearer to the Duchess.

St James's Palace announced that the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry are also set to have their own staff.

Miguel Head, currently press secretary to all three, will become William's private secretary.

The post of Harry's assistant has yet to be filled.  He will be looked after by Jamie Pinkerton-Lowerth, previously private secretary to the royal brothers.
