The Camerons choose romantic Tuscan villa for holiday

Thursday July 28, 2011

The Camerons have announced plans to go on their first major foreign holiday since moving into 10 Downing Street.

Although the pair made a three-day trip to Spain earlier this year, they plan to spend two weeks away this time.

The couple have chosen the Petrolo Estate in Tuscany for a fortnight of rest in an 18th century villa.

A spokesperson has confirmed that they will be sharing the villa - equipped with a tennis court, pool, and private garden - with two other families.

The 300-year-old mansion is tucked behind high walls and cypress trees near the town of Mercatale Valdarno in the heart of the Tuscan Chianti region.

It has been revealed that unlike Tony Blair, Mr. Cameron will be paying £5,800 for their stay.

The Prime Minister has no plans of meeting with Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi whilst in Chianti.

A friend of the Camerons is reported to have said: "This is a holiday, not a work trip."

The dynamic pair probably chose this Italian region for its sentimental significance.

Tuscany is where they met and fell in love when Samantha joined on a Cameron family holiday as a friend of David's sister Claire in 1992.
