Joe McElderry 'climbs' to top of the charts

Monday December 28, 2009

X Factor winner Joe McElderry was enjoying success with his debut single, The Climb, at the weekend after it travelled up the music charts to reach number one.

The 18-year-old missed out on claiming the Christmas top spot to rock group Rage Against The Machine last week following a high-profile Facebook campaign.

But that did nothing to lessen his delight at reaching the top spot.

“This has been the best Christmas ever and I want to wish everyone a very happy new year,” said the South Shields singer.

Rage Against The Machine’s track, Killing In The Name Of, dropped down to number two, while Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance remained in number three.

Meanwhile, in the album charts, Michael Buble’s Crazy Love replaced Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed A Dream to become number one. if(typeof(dstb)!= "undefined"){ dstb();}
