Monday March 29, 2010

In news that will disappoint fans across the globe, hit US series, 24, has come to an end.

The eighth season, currently being shown and due to finish on May 24, will be the show's final outing.

"It had been the role of a lifetime", lead star and executive producer Kiefer Sutherland says.

He said the cast and crew "always wanted 24 to finish on a high note, so the decision to make the eighth season our last was one we all agreed upon".

"I will never be able to fully express my appreciation to everyone who made it possible," the actor adds.

"But when all is said and done, it is the loyal worldwide fan base that made it possible for me to have the experience of playing the role of Jack Bauer, and for that I am eternally grateful."

A big screen adaptation, starring the Canadian actor in his famous anti-terrorism agent role, is still in the pipeline, accord to reports.
