The Queen is visiting Redbridge, Waltham Forest and Harrow as part of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Accompanied by Prince Phillip, the monarch has arrived in Redbridge, East London.
A crowd of several thousand cheering well-wishers has turned out to greet her.
There the couple were due to view works by titans of British art such as Lucian Freud, Francis Bacon and David Hockney.
Later in the day, they will travel to Waltham Forest for a lunch attended by representatives from across North London.
The day will finish with a trip to Harrow – the UK's most religiously diverse borough – where the royal couple will see dance and musical performances at the multi-faith Krishna Avanti School.
