Veteran Hollywood actress Claire Bloom to do 'Dr Who'

Wednesday April 29, 2009

British stage and screen star Claire Bloom –  who was discovered by Charlie Chaplin - is reportedly set to make an appearance in Dr Who.
The 78-year-old will play the Timelord's mother in next year's series, which will be David Tennant's last outing as the Doctor before Matt Smith steps into his shoes.
Claire's probably best known to British viewers for her memorable portrayal on the small screen of Lady Marchmain in Brideshead Revisited and a role opposite Sean Connery in a BBC version of Anna Katerina.

A spokesman for the cult sci-fi programme declined to comment on the claims, but the actress' manager confirmed the news to the Daily Mail. "It is happening, " he says. "They are filming at the moment. I have been organising her schedule."
