'Dragons Den' reject receives presidential dog bowl order

Friday May 29, 2009

What a difference a year has made for Natalie Ellis. In April 2008 she was turned down for an investment in her non-spill travel dog bowl business by the panel on the Dragon's Den. But the aspiring entrepreneur has had the last laugh after receiving an order for her invention from the White House.

Natalie, 41, has been asked to supply one of her Road Refresher travel bowls to the First Family's Portuguese water dog, Bo.

"An American celebrity... was asked to put together the official list of items for the President's new dog and she has ordered one of my Road Refreshers," the mum-of-one from Leigh-on-Sea explains. "They contacted me and said can we have one for President Obama and I was taken aback."

"It's absolutely amazing to think my invention is going to be used in the White House."

In honour of her famous client, Natalie has modelled a special version of the bowl in the shape of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, complete with an American flag and Bo's name in diamante letters
