Mel Gibson requests 'observer' for visits with daughter

Thursday July 29, 2010

In order to prove he’s a fit dad Mel Gibson has requested that an “unbiased observer” accompany him and his nine-month-old daughter Lucia during their visits.

Although he has unsupervised visitation rights, Mel is hoping that an observer approved by the Department of Children and Family Services can confirm that he and his child have a good relationship.

In this way he aims to quash the child endangerment claims brought up in the custody battle.

The actor also stated that by inviting a third-party to witness their outings, ex-girlfriend and mother of their daughter, Oksana Grigorieva, “couldn’t lie.”

The first visit took place over the weekend at the actor’s private church.

"[The chapel] is a safe place for them to be together, have fun and play," says a friend.

Regarding Mel’s request, a source close to Oksana says that she “has not expressed an opinion on that one way or the other.”
