William and Kate's guards escort surprised newlyweds

Monday August 29, 2011

It's not every day you get the royal treatment.

So engineer Peter Kelly and his bride Jane Vass were over the moon when the Household Cavalry offered to provide them with a guard of honour on their wedding day.

A parade by members of the unit in Kelso, Scotland this weekend coincided with the couple's marriage at Cross Keys Hotel.

The Household Calvary provided one of the highlights of the royal wedding by accompanying Prince William and his radiant new wife from Westminster Abbey.

On Saturday, they appeared at the Borders Festival of the Horse, marking the 10th anniversary of the celebrated equestrian show.

Delighted Jane said: "The British Horse Society Scotland rang out of the blue to explain that the Household Cavalry would be in the square just after we arrived and they would like to offer us a guard of honour.

"We are thrilled to be having the same horses and riders that escorted William and Catherine forming up for us!”
