Frankie Boyle gives libel damages to charity

Monday October 29, 2012

Comedian Frankie Boyle has won his libel case against The Daily Mirror, who branded him "a racist comedian".

On Monday Frankie was awarded £54,650 in damages against the tabloid.

The 40-year-old comedian said he had sued because he had always made a point of being "anti-racist".

Giving a V for victory sign after a week-long trial, Frankie said: "I am very happy with the decision. Racism is still a very serious problem in society which is why I've made a point of always being anti-racist in my life and work and that's why I brought this action."

The star informed his fans on Twitter that he planned to donate the funds to a prisoner justice charity.

He said: "Here's the good people I'm giving my damages to. They do a lot of inspiring work. Have a look if you get a minute."
