Judge needed: Ellen DeGeneres quits 'American Idol'

Friday July 30, 2010

News that American Idol is looking for new blood undoubtedly brings young hopefuls in droves for their chance at fame and fortune.

But this time the show is seeking talent on the other side of the judge’s table.

After only one season with the show, Ellen DeGeneres has bowed out of the most-watched TV program in the US claiming that it “didn’t feel like the right fit”.

Showing her softer side, the talk show host said: “I also realised this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings.”

Simon Cowell, she is not.

As for a replacement, all signs are pointing to Jennifer Lopez to take the seat on the panel. Sources told People magazine: “It’s true. She’s excited about it.”
