New dad Jude Law's 'Hamlet' is the toast of Broadway

Friday October 30, 2009

While the birth of a new daughter has put him in the spotlight recently, it shouldn't be forgotten that Jude Law's formidable acting talent is what made him famous.

Fresh evidence of that came this week when the box office receipts for Hamlet - the Shakespearean tragedy in which he is currently starring on Broadway - were made public.

With the Oscar-nominated actor as its main draw, the production, which is currently taking close to $1 million every seven days, will recoup all of its costs by the end of next week.

"It's absolutely remarkable that a three-hour Shakespeare on Broadway can recoup at all, let alone in a limited run,' said the play's director Michael Grandage, adding that the show ends on December 6.
