Tuesday October 30, 2012

Skyfall has shot to the top of UK box office rankings as one of the biggest UK openings in cinema history.

Although the 23rd 007 fell slightly short of the money made from the Harry Potter franchises, the film is the second-biggest opening in the UK, taking a whopping £20.1m.

Daniel Craig's portrayal of James Bond gained £48.3 m worldwide, and has been the number one release in every country it has been released.

Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said: "We are absolutely overwhelmed with the reaction to Skyfall this weekend. It is particularly thrilling as the UK is home to James Bond and it being the 50th anniversary year."

Skyfall has also smashed the record for being the most attended film on Saturday ever in the UK.
