Jude Law's relief at no-longer being eye candy

Friday November 30, 2012

He grew a period beard and shaved his head to make himself less attractive in Anna Karenina, and continuing in the vein Jude Law reckons he no longer possesses the heart-throb status that he used to have.

Dismissive of the idea that he is still a "hot young thing in Hollywood", Jude said to the New York Times T Magazine that he is content with his new position in the industry.

"In a weird way, it's kind of a relief to think, 'Oh, I know I'm not that young sort of pretty thing any more'," said the actor.

"It's quite nice talking about what it was like to be the young pretty thing, rather than being it."

Taking on a more reflective attitude on the cusp of his 40th birthday, the actor said that his change in status means he gets to cast his net wider for new roles.

"You are allowed to be an actor, and the parts you get are more interesting," he said.
