Pam Anderson and Katy make splash at marine-themed ball

The theme for Austria's Life Ball was a marine one. And with her shades, golden cossie and outsize ghetto blaster Pamela Anderson couldn't have looked more ready for a session on the shore. The curvy, 41-year-old beach babe took to the stage at the outdoors opening ceremony of the annual event to raise money for AIDS and HIV charities.

Katy Perry also made an impressive entrance, getting proceedings off to a swimming start by being lowered onto the Vienna stage in a giant clamshell.

After shedding her iridescent fishtail skirt the I Kissed A Girl singer - clad in a mermaid-style, shell-adorned bodysuit – launched into song to loud cheers from the audience.

Eva Longoria-Parker's nod to the theme was a discreet and elegant one, and came in the form of a pale pink fishtail gown. The Desperate Housewives actress, who was escorted to the event by her basketball player husband Tony Parker, attended in her official capacity as a representative of the American Foundation for AIDS Research.

Other famous attendees included Ivana Trump and Bill Clinton. The former US president has been involved in the fight against AIDS since 2002 when he established the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative to facilitate access to lifesaving treatment.
