Their faces were a picture of concentration as race-going pals Trinny Woodall and actress Elizabeth Hurley took their places in the royal box to watch the big race on the first day of the Cheltenham Festival.

The pair, wrapped up warm in winter coats, were soon jumping for joy, however, when the horses crossed the finishing line in the Champion Hurdle stake. Elizabeth cheered as Trinny - who had opted for a trilby for the occasion - punched the air in triumph as 22-1 outsider Punjabi beat the favourite into second place.

Other famous faces watching the action at the Gloucestershire race course included the Queen's granddaughter Zara Phillips. The 27-year-old was astride her own horse to compete at the weekend in Surrey – the first time she has done so since breaking her collarbone in a riding accident last October.
