'Age difference' concerns blamed for Rachel Hunter's cancelled wedding

Rachel Hunter faced heartbreak last week as her Canadian hockey-player fiancé, Jarret Stoll, unexpectedly called off their wedding. Emerging reports this week suggest that the significant 13-year age gap between the couple may have contributed to Jarret's last-minute decision. Friends of the 27-year-old sports star, who just celebrated his birthday, revealed to the Daily Mail that he was uneasy about the age difference.

According to the paper, the couple also had disagreements about what has been described as the 40-year-old Rachel's "high maintenance" lifestyle. Additionally, there were reports of strain in Jarret's relationship with his future stepsons, Renee (17) and Liam (14), in the weeks leading up to the wedding.

Rachel, the former wife of legendary singer Rod Stewart, and Jarret had planned a lavish ceremony on August 14, attended by Hollywood stars such as Michelle Pfeiffer and Sharon Stone. The couple, who announced their engagement in August, had purchased a £2.2 million house in LA's Hermosa Beach together the previous year and expressed their hopes of having a child together after the wedding.
