Sarah Jessica Parker is undoubtably the protagonist of Sex and the City, but as the second film version of the series premiered in Japan this week, it was Kim Cattrall who was the focus of attention.
The glam actress stole the limelight with a ravishing new hairstlyle – a sleek bob markedly different from the longer wavy style she sported at the London opening.
Kim was a knockout in a glittering gold gown by Indian-American designer Naeem Khan - the same fashionista who made the dress she wore for the New York premiere.
Of course all the girls were on stylish form. Sarah Jessica chose a high-impact floral layered creation by Vivienne Westwood, accessorised with a gold skull clutch by her late friend Alexander McQueen.
Kristen Davis picked out a gown her character Charlotte would have loved - a yellow taffeta vintage Jean Patou Haute Couture by Christian Lacroix prom dress. And she teamed it with glittering Christian Louboutin heels.
Keeping it classic, meanwhile – in a black strapless Calvin Klein dress – was Cynthia Nixon. She was a good few inches above her co-stars in a pair of towering silver platform stilettos.
Sex and the City 2 went to the top of the UK box office in its opening weekend, taking £6.13 million. but it performed less well in the US, being beaten into third place by Prince of Persia and the new Shrek film.
