Her family and fans know her fears are unfounded, but Demi Moore has revealed that she questions whether she's worthy of love.
Speaking in Harper's Bazaar, the screen goddess opened up about her feelings to her friend, photographer Amanda de Cadenet.
She said: "I would say what scares me is that I'm going to ultimately find out at the end of my life that I'm really not lovable, that I'm not worthy of being loved.
"That there's something fundamentally wrong with me... and that I wasn't wanted here in the first place."
Although the raven haired beauty didn't address her recent split husband Ashton Kutcher, the comments do take on extra significance in light of the separation.
In the same interview, Demi says that she is embracing her "very strong warrior energy".
Observers have commented that the GI Jane heroine has lost weight since the devastating turn of events in her marriage – which perhaps prompted the admission that she "had a love-hate relationship" with her body.
But the 49-year-old added: "I think I sit today in a place of greater acceptance of my body."
"That includes not just my weight but all of the things that come with your changing body as you age."
