Goldsmith heir's marriage to Rothschild heiress is over after reports of romance with rapper The marriage which united two of Britain's most wealthy families is over.

Ben Goldsmith, the multi-millionaire son of the late financier Jimmy Goldsmith, has separated from his wife Kate, the heiress of the Rothschild banking dynasty.

Thirty-one-year-old Ben confirmed the split to The Daily Mail, saying: "I'm pretty shell-shocked by everything. All I am thinking about now is my children."

The couple have a daughter, eight-year-old Iris Annabel, and two sons, seven-year-old Frank James Amschel and four-year-old Isaac Benjamin Victor.

News of the split came after Ben was taken away from the couple's Notting Hill home by police following an argument over his 29-year-old wife's supposedly deepening friendship with an American rapper.

The financier was released after being given a caution.

Rap artist Jay Electronica, who now lives in London, is one of music producer Kate's clients.
