Robin Gibb’s widow Dwina has become a grandmother for the first time — and she and her son Robin-John and his girlfriend Megan are delighted to announce exclusively to HELLO! the birth of Maxwell-Robin John Gibb. The latest addition to the Bee Gees legend’s dynasty, who died in May of last year, was born at 5.50pm on Tuesday 16 July — five days earlier than anticipated — at the Portland Hospital in London weighing in at 8lb 4oz (3.8 kilos)."He's gorgeous," says proud grandmother Dwina. "He has dark hair, like RJ's, and I think his eyes are going to be dark like his, too. I held him for hours and didn't want to put him down.

"Megan is doing fine and was lucky enough to have an easy labour," continues Dwina. "In fact little Maxwell-Robin came swimming out. He's a Cancerian, a water baby. "I'm thrilled to bits about the baby and it's a shame that Robin's not here but I feel he's sharing in the happiness anyway. "RJ, who was present throughout the birth and told HELLO! in a previous interview that he can’t wait to be a hands-on dad, says, "It is an incredible feeling becoming a new father. I just wish my father was alive to see his first grandchild. He would have been very proud but I feel sure he knows about him."

Robin's wife Dwina added that her late husband adored children. "He loved them," she said. "Grandchildren would have found him hilarious because he had a great sense of humour and made everything fun. "He would have relished his role as a grandfather and been brilliant at it. When I lost Robin I wasn't expecting this. It's absolutely wonderful. "The widow spoke about her pain at losing her husband. "Of course, the months since Robin's death have been incredibly difficult for both Dwina and RJ. "New Year's was the hardest," she told HELLO!."As Big Ben chimed midnight and fireworks lit up the sky, I heard the skirl of the bagpipes and felt tearful. I'd spent every New Year's Eve of our 32 years together with Robin and missed him desperately. "To welcome in 2013, we all went outside and wrote Robin's name in the sky with sparklers. I was thrilled about the baby, but sad that Robin wasn't with me to share the happiness. "RJ takes comfort from the fact that Robin got to know Megan before he died. "Dad knew I loved Megan. I hope it helped him to know that I had someone special to look after me."
