The football star walked on up on stage with his little boy Cristiano Jr to collect the coveted Ballon d'Or, and couldn't hold back the tears as he was presented with the award.
After hugging his three-year-old son, who was then held aloft by Brazilian footballing legend Pele, Cristiano made a short address.
"There are no words to describe this moment," said the sportstar, 28, who beat Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Franck Ribery of Bayern Munich to win the award.
"I want to thank all my colleagues and companions at Real Madrid, in the Portuguese team and my family who are here with me.
"I am very happy, it is very difficult to win this award. Everybody that has been involved with me on a personal level I have to thank. My partner, my friends, my son. It is a tremendously emotional moment."
Proudly watching from her seat was Cristiano's proud girlfriend, Russian model Irina Sheik. The glamorous brunette was seen with tears in her eyes as her boyfriend of four years received the trophy.
Equally emotional was the footballer's mother Maria, who was joined at the glitzy ceremony in Zurich by his sisters Elma and Liliana.
