Pippa Middleton inundated with flowers after announcing her engagement

Congratulatory messages and flowers are pouring in for Pippa Middleton following her engagement announcement. On Wednesday, a number of beautiful bouquets were seen being delivered to the Chelsea home she shares with her fiancé James Matthews, as friends and family rush to send their best wishes to the happy couple.

Pippa herself was later seen emerging from the town house, ready for a run. Dressed in pink shorts, a white vest top and a cap, the bride-to-be was of course also wearing her breathtaking new engagement ring. As she returned from her jog sometime later, Pippa was greeted by another floral arrangement waiting for her on the doorstep.

Hedge fund manager James clearly put a great deal of thought into finding the perfect ring for sporty Pippa. "It's hugely practical, because it's quite flat and it will be very easy for her to wear," jeweller Annoushka Ducas told People.

"It's a very timeless piece that will look as good now as it will in 50 years time. It's bezel fit making it a bit more modern, which fits in very well with her style," added Annoushka, whose boutique off the King's Road has been a go-to choice for Pippa, her sister the Duchess of Cambridge, and their mum Carole for years.

The bezel setting – which uses a raised surrounding for the stone to hold it in place – is also a much more secure design for super-active Pippa, who has taken part in a marathon in Kenya, a 54-mile bike ride and downhill ski competitions in the past.

Pippa and James released a statement on Tuesday to officially announce their engagement. "Miss Pippa Middleton and Mr James Matthews are delighted to announce they became engaged on Sunday 17 July and plan to marry next year," it read.

A short time later, Pippa gave waiting photographers the first glimpse of her beautiful diamond ring, telling reporters she "couldn't be happier" following James' proposal.
